We lived in Manila for six months. The high-rise apartment building we moved into was located in the middle of the Ermita district.
From the roof there were panoramic views of the wider Metro Manila area:
...the sea front:
...as well as the buildings nearby:
One day we received an email telling us that over the course of a few weeks, a crew would be giving our building a fresh coat of paint.
I was working when suddenly something odd happened. A pair of paint-spattered shoes, and then legs, appeared on our balcony, 16 floors up.
Many hundreds of feet in the air, the only thing preventing each guy from falling was a harness strapped to old plank of wood.
One word:
Nope.
They tried to prevent paint dripping onto the pool below, but as you can see, they weren't entirely successful.
Come visit the pool! (Now with 100% more beige eggshell lustre)
[Not entirely related, but I didn't know where else to put it...]
One weekend morning I decide to take a trip on the elevators, and take a photo at the same spot on every floor of the building.
Now you too can imagine what it would look like for a whole skyscraper to retract underground.
